WHEN IS A PERMIT REQUIRED?

​

INFORMATION NEEDED TO ISSUE PERMIT

 

NEW HOMES:

1. Completed building permit application

2. Two sets of building plans. Plans must include elevation, cross section, foundation, floor plan, and wall brace plan.

3. Site plan showing lot setbacks and erosion control measures.

4. Copy of City zoning approval

5. Energy compliance certificate (REScheck or REM/Rate)

6. Complete fee payment. 

 

ADDITIONS, ACCESSORY BUILDINGS, & DECKS:

1. Completed building permit application.

2. One set of building plans (elevation, cross section, floor plan w/sizes).

3. Copy of City zoning approval

4. Complete fee payment

 

REMODELS:

1. Completed building permit application

2. One set of building plans showing remodeling area (existing vs proposed plan)

3. Complete fee payment

*NOTE: THE CITY OF STURGEON BAY IS PARTNERED WITH E-PLAN EXAM FOR ALL COMMERCIAL PROJECT PLAN REVIEWS.  FOR FASTER PLAN APPROVALS, WE SUGGEST SUBMITTING PLANS TO E-PLAN EXAM.  YOU ARE STILL ENTITLED TO SEND THE PLANS TO STATE FOR REVIEW IF YOU PREFER.

COMMERCIAL (new, additions, & remodels):

1. Completed building permit application.

2. One set of E-Plan Exam or State approved & stamped plans with cover letter.

3. Copy of City zoning approval

4. Complete fee payment.
